3. Create your website

When you hear the words "personal branding," chances are social media comes to mind. While social media is a great place to build a brand, you don't own any of those platforms. What you can own, however, is your website. In fact, many people like to view a creator’s website before deciding whether to buy a course or not.

To increase the chances that your site visitors sign up for your course, optimize your website to clearly state who you are, how you can help them, and provide proof that you're worth their time (and money). Most of this information should be available on your homepage since many people won’t click through to any other pages before leaving.

Here are some necessary elements your site's homepage needs to turn visitors into paying customers:

A logo: Most course creators and business owners use their stylized names as their logos, but you can make a graphic logo too.
Your value proposition: This is a short sentence stating who you help and how you help them. You should put this near the very top of your site, preferably below your logo.
A professional picture: Consider paying a photographer to take professional pictures of you to use on your site and social media profiles. This can add credibility and create a positive first impression.
Social proof: Add the logos of companies or media outlets you've worked with on your website. If you have client/student testimonials, add them too.
A call-to-action: Let your visitors know the next steps to take, whether it’s signing up for your newsletter, booking a discovery call, or following you on social media.

If visitors like what they see on your homepage, they may want to learn more about you and what you do. Here are some other pages you should include on your site:

About page: Here, you can share your story. Talk about why and how you got into the industry, what you want to help people with, and why people should trust your advice and methods.

Product and Services page: On this page, list your course and any other products or services. If you have multiple products, you may want to build and link to specific sales pages for each one.

Free resources: This could mean blog posts, videos, or recommendations you created that people can access for free or by providing their email.

Contact page: On this page, add different ways your visitors can get in touch with you (email, form, social media, etc.).
